What I Watched in January
An overview of what I watched in January.
Moon Over Miami (1941)
Oh, I loved this. So fun, the costumes were great, the story was tight, the songs catchy, Betty Grable is perfection and Don Ameche really nailed down the '40s charmer. I must own this on DVD!
My Forbidden Past (1951)
Look, I get it. I'd probably go insane too if I fumbled Robert Mitchum.
A Foreign Affair (1948)
I watched this because Be Kind Rewind was introducing it. Would I watch it again? Probably not.
Daisies (Sedmikrásky) (1966)
This whole movie looks like some of my wackiest dreams. I loved it.
I also remember reading someone's very impassioned article/series of tweets/Substack link? about how excited they were that Daisies was getting a Criterion release and I can't for the life of me remember who it was. But their effusive praise for Daisies stuck with me to the point that as I was randomly scrolling through the television stations and saw this on Hollywood Suite, I remembered this! If you recognize this person, let me know! I want to pass along how much I loved this.
Sorry, Wrong Number (1948)
By the end of it I was just waiting for them to break into Barbara Stanwyck's room and off her. This was a lil too long for my tastes, but I bet I would've loved listening to the radio play.
Spinout (1966)
I'm nearing the end, folks!
Cabin in the Sky (1943)
I was riveted. This was so good!
