What I Watched in May
An overview of what I watched in May.
The Girls (Flickorna) (1968)
As I said in my Letterboxd review, I guess what I really want in life is to go back to '60s Sweden, become an actress and join the revolution with Bibi Andersson, Harriet Andersson and Gunnel Lindblom.
Bay of Angels (La Baie des Anges) (1963)
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this one since I saw it. It's so beautiful and melancholic and hopeful; and I want to move to the South of France.
Wanda (1970)
Thank you, Criterion Channel, for randomly bringing this across my screen late on a Saturday night; this was the perfect viewing experience.
Purple Noon (Plein soleil) (1960)
No wonder Alain Delon became a star from this, he's utterly terrifying and utterly captivating. Also glad that this is my first experience with the source material, I think I'm going to like it more than the '90s version.
Sparkle (1976)
I really enjoyed this one. Thank you TCM for programming it!
The Biggest Bundle of Them All (1968)
Alright, alright, I'll join your heist team. Drop the details in the comments, I'm there. We can figure out my special skill later.
A Letter for Evie (1946)
This had been on my Letterboxd watchlist for the longest time and when I happened upon it on TCM this month I was stoked! Love Marsha Hunt and love these '40s romance films, but alas, this was kind of a let down. Evie definitely ends up with the right guy in the end, but how they get there is puzzling.
Hoosiers (1986)
The only sport I know less about is football, and I can't be arsed to care about a basketball team, but god damn, Gene Hackman was a once-in-a-generation talent. I'd watch Hoosiers on repeat for this man. Rest in peace.
ALSO WATCHED:
Special Agent (1935)
She Done Him Wrong (1933)
The Hot Rock (1972)
Night Moves (1975)
