What I Watched in October
An overview of what I watched in October. Read my thoughts about Myrna Loy for TCM's Star of the Month here.
Ruslan and Ludmila (Руслан и Людмила) (1972)

A visual feast, a fairy tale, just stunning from start to finish!
Bride By Mistake (1944)

I love finding these cute, overlooked romantic comedies, they're almost always hidden gems. This, in which Marsha Hunt plays a secretary who pretends to be her boss, Laraine Day, who is herself pretending to be the secretary and falls in love with a soldier who doesn't know her true identity, is quite fun!
Near Orouët (Du côté d'Orouët) (1971)

Another visual feast! This felt nostalgic and like home, and was so utterly gorgeous.
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo) (1970)

My first introduction to the giallo horror genre and it won't be my last!
Pufnstuf (1970)

There was a dearth of children's programming back then, eh? This was... beyond anything I could have imagined, and I knew of H.R. Pufnstuf's existence because my mother used to watch it when she was young.
Dracula (1931)
| via horrortvfilmsource |
Had to work in one spooky film under the deadline for Halloween. I have a few more DVR'd but have yet to watch. This, I'll say, was great and I can see why it's a classic and why Bela Lugosi became a horror icon, but I'm now and forever a Frankenstein and Boris Karloff gal.
ALSO WATCHED:
The Squall (1929)
The Naughty Flirt (1930)
New Morals for Old (1932)
The Animal Kingdom (1932)
Stamboul Quest (1934)
Night Flight (1933)
From the Terrace (1960)
