What I Watched in May

An overview of what I watched in May

On the Riviera (1951)

Obsessed with the costuming, the setting, everything about this charming musical!

I'll Take Sweden (1965)

Bonkers Bob Hope comedy but the production design is top notch and it's fun if you don't overthink it!

Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (1969)

The original (preferable?) version of Mamma Mia! although there's no ABBA and no Greek setting. I looked it up, and though the plot is just about exactly the same—woman sleeps with three handsome men (get it, girl!) and has no idea who the father is, raises her, they all come back for a special event, shenanigans ensue—the writers of Mamma Mia! claim it wasn't an inspiration. Likely story, I say.

Anyways, this was fantastic. I'm just sorry it took Gina Lollobrigida passing and a TCM tribute airing in her honour for me to discover it.

Kid Galahad (1962)

I will continue to torture myself with Elvis movies until I run out of them. That means I've got 13 more acts of torture to get through.

(If you're wondering why I watch Elvis movies when I only like Viva Las Vegas and Blue Hawaii, check out this post for an explanation.)

WUSA (1970)

I don't need a reason to watch Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward on screen together. I saw this on one of the Hollywood Suite channels the other night and jumped at the chance to watch.

I'd Rather Be Rich (1964)

Honestly boring. I was expecting so much more from a Sandra Dee comedy!

The Youngest Profession (1943)

Fun and charming. Imagine Robert Taylor casually being your neighbour for a weekend...
