How to Have an Audrey Hepburn Spring

Happy Spring!

Wherever you are in the world, I hope the snow's finally gone, the flowers are about to bloom, and the next few months are sunny and springlike! I'm here today with a few tips on how you can enjoy your spring using Audrey Hepburn (who gives off serious spring vibes) as a guide.

Here are 9 rules you must abide to have an Audrey Hepburn spring.

Rule 1: Get out of hibernation mode

The sun's not setting as early, the clocks have sprung forward, the temperatures are rising... wake up and go ape for a new day! Walk around the city (Breakfast at Tiffany's), go on a river cruise (Charade) or visit a museum (How to Steal a Million) and enjoy the change of season.

Rule 2: Put away the winter clothing

It's time to put the goose down jackets back in the closet (if you're like me and need them to survive winter), put away the skiing gear (Charade) and all the heavy clothing (War and Peace) and start thinking about your spring wardrobe again. Speaking of spring wardrobe...

Rule 3: Update your wardrobe

It doesn't matter that you (probably) don't have Givenchy on speed dial (Sabrina, Funny Face, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Paris When It Sizzles, How to Steal a Million) take stock of what needs replacing and go out and treat yourself to some new clothes!

Rule 4: Get a haircut

If you're like me and you've been lugging around a heavy ponytail all winter, now's our chance! You get major respect from me if you go full pixie (Roman Holiday) or stylized pixie (How to Steal a Million) but if you're, again, like me, you'll go Ariane (Love in the Afternoon) for the spring.

Rule 5: Learn a new hobby

Be it cooking (Sabrina), reading about a brand-new subject (Funny Face), learning an instrument (Love in the Afternoon), or stamp collecting (Charade), mark the new season with a commitment to learn something new. Personally, I want to learn how to make a tarte and try macarons one more time.

Rule 6: Enjoy nature

Now that nothing's frozen anymore, get out there and explore! See the wildlife (Green Mansions)! Go out sailing (Sabrina)! Plant flowers (My Fair Lady)! Play Frisbee (How to Steal a Million)!

Rule 7: Plan a summer trip

Paris is always a good idea (Sabrina, Funny Face, Love in the Afternoon, Charade, Paris - When it Sizzles, How to Steal a Million), says Audrey. You can't go wrong with Rome (Roman Holiday) or New York City (Breakfast at Tiffany's, Wait Until Dark), but there's nothing wrong with the street where you live, either (My Fair Lady)!

Rule 8: Work on your social media following

This is something I need to do with my Box Office Poisons Twitter account, but it's true: whether you're trying to land an interview (Roman Holiday), a photo shoot (Funny Face) or even general publicity (Breakfast at Tiffany's), now's the time to hustle.

Rule 9: Read the classics

War and Peace seems more wintry, but it should take you an entire season to get through. There's also the legends of Robin Hood (Robin and Marian), George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion' (My Fair Lady) and the works of Lillian Hellman (The Children's Hour) to get you through the spring.
