A Day of Rom-Coms

Did I program today's TCM schedule and just forget about it? Seriously, this was a near-perfect schedule, in my opinion.

I work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I had TCM playing in the background all day. Here's what I watched!

Theodora Goes Wild (1936)

A straitlaced Sunday school teacher is the secret author of a scandalous new romance novel who falls in love with Melvyn Douglas's secretive illustrator. It's a fun story about releasing yourself from secrets, standing up to the town busybodies and causing scandal with every breath. Honestly, who wouldn't want to go wild like Theodora?

Breakfast for Two (1937)

The only thing that really stuck out to me (this film was the only one I hadn't previously seen) was when Barbara Stanwyck was sparring with her paramour and all those wooden bowling pins fell on her head. Surely that would've knocked her out?

Four's a Crowd (1938)

Olivia de Havilland, Errol Flynn, Rosalind Russell and Patric Knowles in an ever-revolving series of partners and love and switcheroos as the principals try to save the newspaper and create positive PR for a business tycoon. The ending is pure hilarity.

It's a Wonderful World (1939)

Zany and screwbally, It's a Wonderful World is light and fun and full of great character moments for both Claudette Colbert and James Stewart. It's no replacement for It Happened One Night or The Philadelphia Story or any other gem in their respective filmographies, but it's a fun film.
