The Last Film of...Carole Lombard

Wait, pretty butterfly — Carole Lombard in To Be or Not to Be ...

To Be or Not to Be (1942)

The story of a Warsaw acting troupe on the eve of the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 who get involved in a plot to find a Polish spy.

Why Was This Carole Lombard's Last Film?

Tragically, Carole Lombard was killed in a plane crash on January 16, 1942, a month before the film was released. She had been selling war bonds on a tour of the country, along with her mother and 20 other passengers, when the airplane they were travelling home in crashed into Mount Potosi in Nevada.

Carole was honoured for her contributions to the war efforts with the commissioning of the SS Carole Lombard, which her devastated husband, Clark Gable, attended.

Is This a Good Movie?

Yes! It's a brilliant farce and Carole should've at least earned an Oscar nomination for her work.
