What I Watched in February
An overview of what I watched in February. (Read my thoughts about Bugs Bunny's turn as TCM's Star of the Month here.)
Walk, Don't Run (1966)
I respect Cary Grant for wanting to retire from movies after this, because the man did give us so many unforgettable and iconic performances in those three decades, and he deserved the time to raise his daughter and enjoy retirement, but honestly, what a loss for the film industry. The man was making hits right up until the end.
I loved Walk, Don't Run and I'm going to own that on DVD someday!
Say It in French (1938)
What, I'm not going to watch a Ray Milland romantic comedy? Please. This was adorable and I loved the twist at the end!
It Happened in Athens (1962)
THE STAKES WERE HIGH ENOUGH WHY DID THE DOG HAVE TO GET INJURED?!
(This was fun in the way a lot of mid-century historically-set movies usually are. 'Let's take major creative liberties with characterization, facts and setting to make a romp,' and you know what? IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE INJURED DOG I MIGHT HAVE BEEN LIKE 'THIS IS MY NEW FAVOURITE MOVIE' BUT GUESS WHAT? NOW IT RANKS LOWER.)
ALSO WATCHED:
Flying High (1931)
Invaders from Mars (1953)
