I Have an Exciting Announcement...
I have a fun bit of news to share with you today!
Vagrant Press Managing Editor Whitney Moran has acquired World rights to Halifax-based writer Jessica Ilse's debut novel. THE MAJESTIC SISTERS is a dual-timeline work of historical fiction that moves from late 1930s to early 1960s Halifax, Nova Scotia, with stopovers in Hollywood, and follows Halifax’s biggest It Girls, sisters Melly and Missy Calvert, who perform nightly at the city’s Majestic Theatre. When Melly abandons Halifax to become a Hollywood star, it begins a decades-long rift between the sisters, as Melly finds fame and fortune and Missy remains behind to wed Halifax’s wealthiest hotelier. In 1963, when the sisters’ beloved theatre is rumoured to be closing, Melly returns to the city with the hope of saving it, and her relationship with Missy, once and for all. Suffused with backstage gossip and mid-century Halifax history, and written in the style of a tell-all biography, THE MAJESTIC SISTERS is a dishy, heartfelt story of sisterhood, fame, and forgiveness. Publication is slated for Fall 2024.
My debut novel, The Majestic Sisters, will be published in the fall of 2024 by Vagrant Press, a print of Nimbus Publishing!
