Summer Under the Stars: Kay Francis
Star of the Day: Kay Francis
Mary Stevens, MD (1933) - "A woman doctor decides to have a baby without benefit of marriage."
I was so happy to see Kay Francis included on the Summer Under the Stars lineup this year. She's a must-watch if you're interested in classic Hollywood: the variety of roles she took on, the way she disappeared into her characters, the number of classics she's synonymous with... Those half-moon eyebrows and her sly smirk are so wonderfully expressive.
For her day, I chose Mary Stevens, MD, where she plays a female doctor, and though it's on the shorter side (only 73 minutes), she still was the best thing about it!
