Summer Under the Stars: Margaret Rutherford
Star of the Day: Margaret Rutherford
The Mouse on the Moon (1963) - "A tiny country persuades the Americans and Soviets that they're starting a space program, when they really just want some money for new plumbing."
Oh, this was hilarious! It's a Space Race spoof about a tiny mountain microstate wanting to go to the Moon (though the Prime Minister really just wants the money so he can fix the indoor plumbing) and how they beat the Americans and the Soviets in a beaten up rocket.
There are so many hilarious moments, like when the Grand Duchess of Grand Fenwick christens a ship called the Indestructible with a bottle of the Duchy's own wine, which is so potent, it explodes; or when there's an off-screen explosion and the Privy Council deduces that someone just opened a bottle of wine.
This was great fun, I'd definitely recommend this!
