Summer Under the Stars: Robert Redford

Star of the Day: Robert Redford

The Candidate (1972) - "A senate candidate's ideals weaken as his position in the polls gets stronger."

I have to admit that when I was a teenager, I didn't care for Robert Redford or his movies at all (I know, what was wrong with me?), but I've since revised that opinion. Some of his movies are among my favourite, but for a new-to-me film this year, I chose The Candidate, which was smart and slyly funny (it kind of reminded me of the George Clooney movie Ides of March, though I preferred The Candidate).
