Summer Under the Stars: Peter Ustinov

Star of the Day: Peter Ustinov

Logan's Run (1976): "A future police officer uncovers the deadly secret behind a society that worships youth."

The effects on Logan's Run are laughable from a modern perspective (though I can't imagine they were viewed as cutting edge back in the '70s either), but the story was good enough. We already worship youth, it's not that much of a stretch to see how we could get to a Logan's Run-esque existence.

And Peter Ustinov's a treat. I loved him in Topkapi a few years ago, and he's great here too. I read he improvised a lot of his dialogue? He's my favourite part of this film, especially at the end, where they (SPOILER) go outside for the first time and all they see is Peter Ustinov and a cat.
