Summer Under the Stars: Christopher Plummer
Star of the Day: Christopher Plummer
Wind Across the Everglades (1958): "A game warden takes on a band of bird poachers in the Florida Everglades."
I was going to watch literally any other movie but when I read the premise of this one, that Christopher Plummer, Captain von Trapp himself, was playing a game warden combatting against bird poachers in turn of the century Florida???? I changed all my plans immediately. Georg, you made me change my mind.
This was pretty interesting, and I see online that the views on this one are pretty split. I think honestly it has something to do with the fact that I've been on vacation at my mother's place this week and her backyard is basically a bird sanctuary? I downloaded an app that identifies birdsongs and, no joke, these are flying around: song sparrow, yellow-rumped warbler, crow, goldfinch, robin, mourning dove, blue jay, yellow warbler, dark-eyed junco, cardinal, cedar waxwing, black-capped chickadee (Cheeseburger Birds, for fellow Canadians), grackle, herring gull, white-throated sparrow, hermit thrush, purple finch, osprey, red-tailed hawk, winter wren, and black-throated green warbler.
So I've had birds on my mind this week. Thank you, Christopher Plummer, you eternally handsome and captivating man, for keeping it going yet another day!
