Summer Under the Stars: Shirley MacLaine
Star of the Day: Shirley MacLaine
I love Shirley MacLaine! So spunky and modern and equally adept at comedy and drama (and let's not forget her spectacular dancing skills).
This means that, like Audrey Hepburn Day, I'd seen everything scheduled, but they didn't play a single one of my favourite Shirley films! So here is what I would have played if given the chance to schedule it, and the unlimited budget to license everything.
Artists and Models (1955)
My favourite Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movie, and I love how kooky Shirley is as Dorothy Malone's sidekick and best friend.
The Apartment (1960)
"Shut up and deal."
All In a Night's Work (1961)
I'm in love with Shirley's bachelorette pad in this film and the chemistry she shared with Dean Martin is unmatched.
What a Way To Go! (1964)
I want to live every single one of Shirley's lives in this film. I want all the houses and all the husbands. I adore this film!
Woman Times Seven (1967)
An unconventional film that tells seven love stories of seven women all played by Shirley. It's out there but it's fun.
