31 Days of Oscars: Calamity Jane

This was one of Doris Day's personal favourite from her filmography, as Calamity Jane was the closest to who she really was.

I'm more of a fan of Doris's work in the '60s, but I have to admit that Calamity Jane is probably her tops performance from her first decade in Hollywood. It's a great movie with great work by Doris and Howard Keel.

Nominations: Best Scoring of a Musical Picture (Ray Heindorf), Best Song ("Secret Love" from Calamity Jane – Music by Sammy Fain; Lyrics by Paul Francis Webster), Best Sound Recording (William A. Mueller)

Won: Best Song
