31 Days of Oscars: The Harvey Girls

Let's see how many new-to-me movies I can watch during 31 Days of Oscar, starting with the first day and The Harvey Girls!

I'm always amazed at the timelines of some actors. Like, Angela Lansbury has to be immortal at this point, and to my generation, she's basically known for being Jessica Fletcher (my namesake!) and Mrs. Potts, but she had this long, storied movie career well before that. Mindblowing...

And Cyd Charisse appears in this movie, too, in her first speaking role. This was a nice movie, with a nice storyline, but mostly whenever I watch Judy Garland movies, I just feel sad for what the studio put her through and what her personal demons did to her, and how all she needed was a lifeline and love.

Nominations: Best Scoring of a Musical Picture, Best Original Song

Won: Best Original Song—On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe by Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer

Quite the snappy tune.
