31 Days of Oscars: The Divorcee

I've always loved The Divorcee.

When I first started really getting into old movies, I made a project to watch all the performances that'd won Best Actress Oscars, and Norma Shearer's portrayal of a modern, free woman who had affairs and didn't roll over as the dutiful spouse would've been expected to has stuck with me. She runs the gamut of emotions and is always fun to watch.

Nominations: Best Picture, Best Director (Robert Z. Leonard), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Norma Shearer), Best Writing (John Meehan, based on the novel Ex-Wife by Ursula Parrott)

Won: Best Actress in a Leading Role
