I read a few reviews after watching this, and yeah, they're not exactly kind to Jamaica Inn. No tension, no drama, mostly removed from the source material (a Daphne du Maurier novel, so you know it wasn't a lighthearted film to begin with), and I have to say I agree with them. I was never in suspense about what would happen and I didn't much care for the characters enough to hope that they either got their just desserts or their happy endings.
