Summer Under the Stars: William Powell
Star of the Day: William Powell
Reckless (1935) - A theatrical star gets in over her head when she marries a drunken millionaire.
William Powell was the definition of suave, smooth-talking debonair actor, and he's one of the men who defines '30s Hollywood for me. The new-to-me movie I chose was Reckless (after The Senator Was Indiscreet disappeared from the lineup); it was good to see Jean Harlow and William Powell together. I loved them each individually in Libeled Lady (though I'm glad his character winds up with Myrna Loy).
